Council response to Milton Keynes Council's proposed Green Bin charge

Walton Community Council objected to the proposed £33 per year Green Bin charge put forward by MKC. Our objection letter can be read here.

Milton Keynes Council Recycle and Reward Scheme

The scheme aims to raise awareness of recycling food waste in MK through the caddy and green bins. We can earn ££ for our area as the tonnage collected in our area improves. The amount of cash we will receive is linked to the amounts collected and this will be weighed and recorded by MKC's waste contractor, Serco.

In January green bin use in Walton dropped in comparison to previous years, so we need to try and get back ahead of the game like we were in previous months.
DID YOU KNOW?
You can order a new green bin or a grey caddy from the Milton Keynes Council website or by phoning MKC Customer Services on 01908 691691.
You can put all your food waste in to the green bin, raw or cooked. Meat, dairy, bread. It's not just for peelings and compostables.
MKC advise that you put your bin out every week, regardless of how little you have put in it. The collection vehicles go down every street, every week.
