Walton Neighbourhood Plan

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

The Neighbourhood Plan sets out local policies for the future development of the whole of Walton Parish. The Plan will hold considerable weight when planners, developers and Councillors make their decisions about planning applications that impact the area.

Chair of the Neighbourhood Plan Working Group Stuart Copeland.

What is the Walton Neighbourhood Plan area?

The area covers Browns Wood, Caldecotte, Old Farm Park, Tilbrook, Towergate, Walnut Tree, Walton Grange, Walton Hall, Walton Manor, Walton Park, and Wavendon Gate.

What does the Plan cover?

The Plan has 19 policy areas which have been drawn up as a direct result of feedback from residents to the consultation and engagement carried out over the last two years. There are also recommendations for action to help improve the area and the way planning decisions are made, alongside commitments made by Walton Community Council to help shape the area and improve your quality of life.

What are the main issues?

Walton Parish is growing, both in population and new development. The Plan seeks to accommodate this growth by protecting the area from over-development and ensuring that sufficient and appropriate infrastructure is in place to support any new development.

What happens next?

The Neighbourhood Plan went to referendum on November 17th 2016 and was formally adopted by Milton Keynes Council on January 11th 2017.
